The Butterflies of Arashiyama

When we arrived in Arashiyama, the Kyoto landscape was still wearing its early spring colors, which is to say, mostly subdued monochrome gray.  Arashiyama (嵐山) is a pleasant, touristy district in the western outskirts of Kyoto.
